Maybe the KTM has historicalÂly been too aggressive and too off-road focusedâŚ? Thatâs changed for 2021 â with the introductiÂon of the new 1290 Super Adventure S. It's more road-focused than before, with road-going tyres, a sportier chassis, a revised engine, tweaked semi-active WP suspension and some new radar-assisted cruise control.
But with the engine spinning faster youâve got 136 shouty horses to play with (up from the 1200âs 123bhp) and enough poke to clutch-up easy third gear wheelies. The bigger-bored motor (up from 101 to 102.5mm) may still not rival a 160bhp KTM 1290 Super Adventure in a Top Trumps shoot-out, but the BMW never leaves you feeling short-changed.
